Privacy Policy
Some business details on this page haven’t been filled in yet.
The short version
- We collect what’s needed to run your account and the tools: your name and email, your projects, and a record of your plan.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads or use advertising trackers.
- Some trusted services help us run the site, such as hosting, payments, email and AI reading. Some of them are overseas.
- You can download everything we hold about you, or delete your account, at any time in Settings.
This policy explains how the business owner’s legal name (ABN ABN to be added), trading as One Engineering, handles personal information. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
| What | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name, email, password (stored only as a one-way scrambled hash, so we can’t read it), your role, and settings such as theme and units | To sign you in, secure your account and set up the tools for you |
| Your projects and files | Site addresses, house plans, photos, drawings, designs, calculation inputs, notes, reports | To save your work and run the tools |
| Plan and payment records | Which plan you have, its status and renewal date, one-off reports you’ve bought, your Stripe customer number, team name and members, and an ABN if you add one for tax invoices | To give you the right features and keep tax records. Stripe holds your card details, not us. |
| Sharing and email records | Email addresses you invite or send reports to, and when each email was sent | To deliver shares and reports, and so you can see what was sent |
| Invites and feedback | Who invited you, if you joined with an invite link, and any rewards earned. Feedback you send us, with your rating, and your name, role and email if you give them. | To give invite rewards, and to improve the tools. We quote feedback publicly only if you tick the box that says we may. |
| Interest and usage | Which upcoming tools you asked to hear about, and how many AI requests you made each day | To tell you when a tool launches, and to keep AI use within fair limits |
| Security information | The device type and IP address of a new sign-in | To email you a sign-in alert. It goes in the alert only and isn’t kept in your account record. Our host may keep short-term server logs. |
If you use the tools without an account, your work stays in your own browser and isn’t sent to us. Features that use outside services are the exception (see section 3).
2. Cookies and browser storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. Your browser’s own storage keeps your preferences, such as the theme, which tips you’ve dismissed and projects you saved without an account. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with services that help us run One Engineering, and only what each one needs:
| Service | What it does | What it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Render | Hosts the website and database | Everything stored in your account | Overseas, which may include the United States |
| Stripe | Takes payments | Your email, payment details, ABN if given | Australia, United States and other countries |
| Brevo | Sends our emails | Recipient email addresses and the email content | European Union |
| Anthropic | AI that reads plans and photos and answers questions, used only when you use an AI feature | The plans, photos or text you send to that feature | United States |
| OpenStreetMap services, government planning, hazard and map services | Address search, maps, planning rules, flood and bushfire data | The address or location you look up, sent from your browser | Australia and overseas |
| Google Fonts | Supplies the fonts the site uses | Your IP address, as for any web request | United States |
We also share information when you ask us to, for example by sharing a project or emailing a report, and when the law requires it. We don’t sell personal information.
Some of these services are outside Australia. We use reputable providers with their own privacy and security commitments, but overseas laws may differ from Australian law.
4. How we protect it
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed. Sign-in cookies can’t be read by page scripts, and sensitive actions such as deleting your account need your password. Only the people who run One Engineering can access the systems, and only when needed to support you or keep the service running. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we’ll tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as the law requires.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account and projects until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account cancels any paid plan and permanently removes your account, projects, share links and email records. A small record of payments may be kept for as long as tax law requires, usually five years, and Stripe keeps its own payment records. Copies can stay in backups for a short time before they’re overwritten.
6. Your choices and rights
- See your data: Settings → Your data → Download my data.
- Correct it: change your name, email and preferences in Settings, or ask us.
- Delete it: delete projects one at a time, or delete your whole account in Settings.
- Emails: reminder and alert emails can be turned off in Settings or from the link in each email. Security and billing emails can’t be turned off while you have an account.
- You can use the tools without an account, but most features that save to your account need your email.
7. Young people
One Engineering is meant for adults and businesses. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian’s permission to create an account. If you believe a child has given us information without permission, contact us and we’ll delete it.
8. Questions and complaints
Contact us at contact email to be added. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy when the way we handle information changes. For important changes, we’ll let you know by email or in the app. The date at the top shows the current version.
